The yoga practice acts as a therapeutic tool to heal the body and the mind. The yoga poses (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation, come together to produce many immediate results:
* improve concentration and attention
* decrease anxiety, stress, and depression
* improve mood and sense of well-being
* increase self-acceptance and self-actualization
* improve learning efficiency and memory
* increases somatic and kinesthetic awareness (body/mind connection)
* decrease aggression and hostility
* increase social skills
* improve depth perception
My reaction:
This article is taken from aura wellness center, USA, i have been subscribing with this site for two years now, and indeed i learn a lot, so grateful at least to constantly update my routine as Yoga Instructor. In Brunei where there is so limited Fitness workshop and seminars, one must do its innovative source of education about fitness.
I believe that until this new era, some our fellow fitness enthusiast still don't realized how the practiced of Yoga, helped with our journey in life. It will not only specify on the development of our physical out look alone but also psychologically helpful. I'm not saying that other type of exercise like dance aerobic etc, exercises is no good compare to Yoga, what i mean is in Yoga, you are given so much time to feel the sensation that you will experience in each movement, so much time to know how your muscles reacted on the following asanas, so much time to breath and relax, and to meditate, just like releasing all the negative energy away from your body. And all of this is seldom been emphasized to other type of group exercise. I am an Aerobic dance instructor as well for 11 years now, and since i found Yoga I always let my student feel how Yoga help complete their exercise routine by giving them 5 to 10 minutes to close their eyes, do deep breathing and few resting poses in Yoga like Savasana, cats stretch or child's pose for their cooling down..
That really works, and i found them looked relaxed and refreshed right after the class..
